Ziziki's Sleek, smart, and stylish, Ziziki's Restaurant and Bar in Travis Walk offers great Mediterranean specialties with the accent on Greek favorites. I like the place because it's exuberant. Ziziki's bustles with an electric energy at night. By day, there's still a vibrancy about the restaurant, but the intensity settles to a very manageable business level. Conversation is no problem here, because almost everyone around is conducting business of some sort. There are so many good items on the lunch menu you'll want to come back often to try them all. You can't miss with the Ziziki Bread-pita broiled with cheese, olive oil, garlic and Greek herbs ($5.50). The Pizzette is outstanding. This Greek pizza on pita is made with roma tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil, mozzarella and goat cheese ($6.95). Dolmades ($6.00) and Spanakopita ($6.95), some of the best this side of Chicago's Greektown, round out the appetizers. Salads are fabulous! Greek and Mediterranean Salads (both $6.95) are filled with all the traditional ingredients. A grilled chicken salad is also good-although a bit pricey ($9.95). For a change of pace you can get the salad prepared with thinly sliced leg of lamb. A shared appetizer and a salad would make a great lunch, but don't overlook the rest of the menu. Sandwiches include a ground lamb "Greek Burger" ($7.95) and a "Veggie Sandwich" ($6.95). Entrees make the day. A leg of lamb Gyro is taste treat ($8.95). The Grecian Chicken is bursting with flavors of garlic and herbs ($8.95). Great broiled new potatoes come with both. For something a little different try the Greek Lasagna, Pastichio, topped with homemade béchamel sauce ($9.95). The Souvlaki, with skewered chicken or lamb medallions on pita, served with red onions is also a hit ($8.95). One visit to Ziziki's and you'll be hooked.
