Truluck's Steak & Stone Crab
Size counts in movie monster hype and in crab claws. Wait till you see the Colossal
Stone Crab Claws (served at market price) at Truluck's in Addison. I tearfully admit an allergy to crab (and alas,
most shellfish) so I had the foody-team along to sample the restaurant's signature offering. I can report big smiles,
lots of head nodding, entreaties for "more" and not a morsel left to scrape off a plate. The crabs with
medium, large and jumbo endowments are also offered. Even the medium claws are awesome appendages. They're served
in half orders (4 for $12.95) or full orders (8 for $24.95). I'm very impressed with the food here. The grilled
salmon filet ($11.95) is one of the best ever. For the beef lover, the 14-ounce Prime Rib ($18.95) is hickory smoked
to perfection. There's also a great tenderloin, and a "Cowboy Cut" bone-in ribeye ($27.95) that's 20
ounces of lip-smacking entertainment. For variety, the grilled shrimp pasta ($16.95) served over angel hair with
garlic butter sauce is a good choice. These are all samples from the dinner side of the menu that's served all
day. A host of lunch specials are served 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. I loved the Chicken Walnut
BLT ($7.95). The chicken is diced and tossed with walnuts and a Dijon dressing. Put it with BLT and Monterey Jack
on toast and you are one happy camper. "The Caesars" are good ($8.95). Crispy romaine is served with
either grilled chicken or shrimp. If you want a thick cut of prime rib without committing to 14 ounces, try the
Open Faced Prime Rib Sandwich ($10.95) on grilled French bread. A good selection of appetizers, soups and salads
are featured as well. In fact, there is so much on this menu that interests me, I will practice what I preach and
return often to sample more than our "food team" could tackle. And coming soon, Truluck's opens on McKinney
in the old Fog City Diner location.
