Trevi’s

By Jim White

A noted photographer was once asked how he managed to take such beautiful pictures of food. He replied succinctly, "By taking pictures of beautiful food."

The same logic seems to hold with the recent conversion of Omni Mandalay’s signature restaurant from Café D’Or to Trevi’s.

So, how do you create a beautiful restaurant that serves delicious Italian and Mediterranean specialties? Answer: Design a beautiful restaurant and hire a chef from Milan.

The setting at Trevi’s is gorgeous. The dining room is light, airy and colorful. Floor to ceiling windows with a view of manicured gardens and the Las Colinas greenbelt, canal and skyline provide a dramatic background. You’ll enjoy the view even more from Trevi’s brand new patio dining area.

Executive Chef Paolo Verzeni offers a menu designed to accommodate the needs of the individual conducting business or dining for pleasure.

There’s a nifty buffet featuring fresh soups, pastas, salads and more offered Monday through Friday ($14.50) that should get you out of the restaurant in less than thirty minutes if you’re short on time.

If that’s not a consideration, peruse the diverse menu.

An interesting variation on a spinach salad is served in a bread basket with succulent Portabello mushrooms and pine nuts with a warm bacon dressing ($8). Also satisfying is the Insalata alla Niçoise with albacore tuna ($10).

Two entrées of note are Scoloppa alla Milanese ($20)—a large breaded veal scallop with capers and pine nuts served with buttered fettuccine, and Lasagna alla Parmigiana ($11.50) brimming with Ricotta and Parmesan cheese and minced beef ragu.

Sandwich offerings range from grilled Italian sausage on Asiago bread ($10) and meatball on baguette ($9), to pita bread stuffed with tuna and veggies ($8) and grilled pesto chicken breast rolled in spinach flatbread ($8).

All desserts and bakery items are made in house. Be sure to try the tiramisu.

Solid food, good service and a great location make this a prime business lunch setting.
