Mr. G’s-Hyatt Regency DFW

Great dining awaits you at Mr. G’s in The Hyatt Regency DFW. What! Good food at the airport?!?

Folks anywhere near DFW International need to put Mr. G’s at the top of their list for a fine dining experience. And, it’s worth the drive from anywhere in The Metroplex to sample great steaks, chops, seafood, a good wine list and flawless service.

You probably don’t associate this kind of quality with the airport. But it’s easier if you overlook Mr. G’s geography and just think of it as being a top-flight restaurant at a bustling Hyatt hotel. If you’re worried about DFW Airport parking, you get free validation when you dine at Mr. G’s or the hotel’s popular Friday night all you can eat seafood extravaganza.

Mr. G’s is plush and swanky like an executive boardroom. Big comfortable leather booths or table seating make for comfortable dining. The air of big city sophistication is all around. The place suggests beef, brandy and cigars and that’s what you get. The restaurant has big intentions and delivers big payoffs.

One of the greatest appetizers I’ve ever had is Mr. G’s Stuffed Morels. The beefy tasting mushrooms are filled with veal mousse and served with sautéed baby spinach and black truffle sauce. Quite simply divine!
Foie Gras and Plums are also outstanding.

In the mood for a lobster bisque? It’s good, but so rich, and such a big serving, you’d better be hungry if you expect to finish it and an entrée.

Mr. G’s serves one of the best Caesar Salads around. Still made the old fashioned way, by the waiter, on a cart, in the dining room.

Now, let’s talk about main-courses, because there are some lavish productions at Mr. G’s.

Red Snapper is my hands-down favorite on the menu. It’s pan seared and served on Peruvian potato puree with great steamed vegetables in a wonderful lime-chive buerre blanc. Beef, as mentioned earlier, is absolutely superb! The tenderloin is almost fork tender. The New York Strip is peppercorn crusted. A thick slab of Prime Rib is served in its own natural juices. The slow roasted flavor is delicious. The Veal Chop practically covers the entire plate. It’s enormous and perfectly cooked.

Desserts are aptly listed under indulgence. Everything from fresh berries to decadent chocolate delights. The wine list is full of big names, big wines and big prices. There are great selections to compliment your meal. And, of course, the aforementioned cigar humidor and fine spirits are available to complete a satisfying meal, if your chose.

Here are a couple of suggestions to make Mr. G’s more user friendly, if a trip to the airport doesn’t come to mind when you consider dinner. Make it your restaurant of choice if you’re picking up someone at the airport late in the day and dinner is on your agenda. Or, if you’re looking for someplace new, and trendy isn’t your style, make Mr. G’s a destination dining experience and stay over in the hotel.

Mr. G’s is open Monday through Saturday for dinner. Call 972-453-1234 for reservations.
