The Restaurant Capital of Texas
Austin is not only the states political capital. Austin also now sports one restaurant for every 320
people in the five-county metro area. Thats more restaurants per capita than in Houston (one per 360 people),
San Antonio (332) and Dallas (380), making Austin the States restaurant capital, too.
And, by the way
..while youre dining out, take a minute to remember a few things about sensible, healthy eating.

Here are common-sense diet recommendations from the Dallas-based American Heart Association journal
Circulation.
The overall goal remains reducing risk factors for heart disease, with a new focus on obesity. The number
one recommendation is to quit smoking. Number two is to exercise and limit calories to prevent obesity.
The group endorsed the World Health Organizations recommendation that the general population get at
least 15 percent of calories from fat.
Avoid foods high in sugar and limit daily sodium intake to six grams. Its the equivalent of about one
teaspoon of salt. Thats down from about one teaspoon of table salt
New on the list is recommendation of 25 to 30 grams of fiber per day from foods, not supplements.
