Andiamo
Tuscan through and through. Simple, delicious Italian cooking, country-style,
is available at Andiamo in Addison. Here the cooking relies on natural flavors and fresh ingredients. Olive oil,
herbs, tomatoes, mushrooms, and only the best cuts of meat, chicken and fish. You'll have a mouth-full of flavors
and a plate-full of food at Andiamo. In fact, hearty portions may be an understatement. This cozy Italian restaurant
literally bustles during lunch. You'll want to make sure you call ahead for a reservation. The atmosphere lends
itself to fun and conviviality. You might walk in with a frown, but you'll leave with a smile. Andiamo is a comfortable,
casual place. The service is friendly and attentive. The food-ah, now here's where the smiles begin. A bruschetta
sampler is a must ($4..95 ). Also, be sure to ask for the baked clams ($6.95), blended with herbs, pecorino cheese
and garlic butter. They are wonderful. Minestrone ($3.50) is rich and flavorful. Salads are fresh and light. By
all means sample from the abundant antipasti array-portabello; calamari; fagioli-- but save room for more! The
main dish side of Andiamo's menu has something for everyone. I am particularly impressed with the light and healthy
selections. Good pastas (around $7.95), grilled chicken ($8.95) or simple poached or grilled salmon ($9.95). Those
same items are also served with the richer sauces, as you would expect; Alfredo, Bolognese, creamy tomato and garlic-Linguine,
Tortellini, Fettuccini-um-um-um. In the mood for something substantial? Try Vitello Andiamo ($11.95), oven-baked
veal with mozzarella, peppers, onions and mushrooms. Desserts are the perfect compliment to top-off your Tuscan
experience. Sicilian Spumone-Tiramisu-Cannoli-or a rich, chocolate creation, Zucchoto. I've had several business
lunches here. Depending on your time-frame, you can get in and out under an hour, or linger with wine, conversation
and espresso. It all depends on the nature of the deal.
